This course is suitable for those who require basic understanding of insurance concepts. It is ideal for new entrants in the insurance market, employees working for insurance companies, Insurance Agents and all students including school leavers (SHS students) requiring credits towards the CII qualifications.

Curriculum:

·         Session 1 : Introduction to Insurance

·         Session 2 : Principles of Insurance

·         Session 3 : The Insurance Market, contract and Agency Law

·         Session 4 : Underwriting procedures, policy wording and renewals

·         Session 5 : Motor Insurance

·         Session 6 : Marine Insurance (Hull, cargo & pleasure Craft)

·         Session 7 : Property Insurance (Personal lines) Travel & Homes Insurance

·         Session 8 : Property Insurance (commercial lines)

·         Session 9 : Pecuniary Insurance

·         Session 10 : Liability Insurance

·         Session 11 : Insurance of the person

·         Session 12 : Insurance the person (cont.)

·         Session 13 : Reinsurance and Co- insurance

·         Session 14: Claims Handling Techniques

·         Session 15 : The regulatory Framework

 

 

Entry Requirements:

·         Four (4) passes in SHS

·         General Business Certificate Examination (GBCE)

·         Pass in a Degree program of any disciple

·         Attainment of the age of 18 (or above) at registration or

·         Any other qualification satisfying the board of the Ghana Insurance College

Duration: 1 month program
